Toronto Staging Yard
A.K.A. "The Parking Garage", this staging yard consists of two stacked 6 track levels that will be capable of holding 12 50-60+ car trains (typically our mainline freights are 30-40 cars long). A connecting track from the upper level also accesses a fiddle/car storage yard for re-staging trains. Currently (spring 2007) only the lower level is fully operational. Each track is equipped with optical detectors at each end in order to detect trains when this trackage is eventually hidden below the layout scenes to be built directly above. This yard runs almost the length of the building with a massive turnback loop.
